Corrections

We get things wrong sometimes. When we do, we fix it, we date the fix, and we keep the old version so you can see what changed.

How we handle errors

If we publish an inaccurate plain-English analysis of a bill, we update the analysis, mark the page with a visible correction banner for 30 days, and keep the prior version accessible afterward through a version-history affordance on the page.

What we do not change after the fact

We never change the official voting record. The Public-record zone on every bill page is the data Congress.gov and senate.gov publish, rendered as-is. If a tally looks wrong on our page, the issue is either an ingest bug on our side (please tell us) or a correction upstream that the source has not yet propagated.

Email corrections@daylightgov.com with the page URL, the field you think is wrong, and your reading of what it should be. A short message with a link beats a long one.

Privacy

Corrections emails are read by a small team. We do not subscribe you to anything from a corrections message. We log only what we need to investigate; we do not retain message bodies longer than needed to resolve and re-verify the change.
